ALEX CARR PINTOR
Alex Carr was born in Girona in 1972. He discovered his passion for art at a very young age. As a child, he already expressed himself in his drawings using vibrant colors and bold forms. But his creative and artistic journey truly began after a long convalescence from an illness, during which he found refuge, solace, expression, and an escape, as well as a means of communication, in the art of drawing and painting.
He considers himself a self-taught artist and art researcher, and is currently pursuing a degree in psychology to explore the mind, emotions, and perception through art.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, he lived in New York, where he exhibited his work and developed Geocubism, an innovative style that fuses Cubist fragmentation with Surrealism. This style incorporates geometric and circular forms to explore psychological, emotional, and social themes, life experiences, and current events. He lived through the devastating events of September 11, 2001, in New York, which deeply affected him, to the point that he stopped painting for several years. He finally rediscovered his inspiration and artistic activity during the Covid-19 lockdown. Now back in his hometown, he continues to expand the boundaries of geocubist surrealism, using his work to challenge perception and provoke reflection in the viewer, inviting them to explore the depth and complexity of the human mind and the world around them. He has held numerous exhibitions, primarily in New York, but also in Madrid and Barcelona, and has taught painting courses in both New York and Girona.
