CLAUDI BONACHI PINTOR
“What is near is very far away
and what is far away is very close”
Claudi Bonachí was born in Tarragona in 1964. From a very young age he showed exceptional aptitude for art, at the age of 11 he won the first of a series of 4 prizes in sculpture competitions promoted by the newspaper Correo Catalán, the magazine Blanco y Negro and Coca Cola.
His precocity was recognised by the director of the School of Art of the Provincial Council of Tarragona, the artist Lluís Maria Saumells, who was a decisive figure in his artistic life, allowing him to enrol in the School of Art at just 14 years old and there he was able to share classes with the most influential artists of the time.
After completing his training, over the years he evolved and finally changed sculpture for painting.
His style at the beginning had a clear tendency towards figurative art, but over time, he evolved to express himself with an approximation to impressionism, masterfully combining light with dark. Currently, he feels most comfortable and creative with Impressionism, which allows him to investigate, especially in some of his works, the technique of manual phototransfer with the addition of natural pigments.
His work is characterized by his classic and harmonious seascapes, landscapes and still lifes. In the latter, he reflects especially very intense colors, with a very thick brushstroke of material and a creative compositional background that approaches a complementary abstraction, which gives a special vision to his painting.
He was Art Director of the Tarraco Art Group, organizing and participating in multiple exhibitions, both local and national.
Claudi Bonachí is a very recognized and appreciated painter who has presented his work, always successfully, in a multitude of national and international exhibitions and has earned many awards and prizes, appearing in many public and private collections.
