GASPAR RANERA

Gaspar Ranera Ereza was born in Zaragoza in 1920. His artistic training was self-taught, with the great classical and Impressionist painters serving as his references and mentors.

After many years of studying and cultivating his art, he presented his first exhibition in Zaragoza in 1969.

He developed a distinctive style characterized by vibrant tones in his works, full of light and contrasts that transform reality into a fluid expression and a harmonious arrangement of elements, reflecting his unique understanding of painting. The result is a body of work that blends Impressionism and abstraction, joyful and optimistic thanks to its use of color, with a distinctive personality that makes it unmistakable and establishes the artist as a great master of painting.

He died in 2002. He received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Bimillennial Medal of the City of Zaragoza in 1976, and in 1986 he co-founded the Association of Aragonese Figurative Artists.

Between 1944 and 2002, he held nearly 300 solo and group exhibitions, including numerous shows in Zaragoza, Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona, Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Sitges, Huesca, and Jaca.

His biography and references appear in many art catalogs, guides, and dictionaries, most notably the Anthological Dictionary of Aragonese Artists and the Dictionary of Twentieth-Century Spanish Painters and Sculptors.
